How is Monk Fruit Made/Processed?

Although our final processes and blending is proprietary, we use a water extraction method that allows us to separate the crushed monk fruit from its natural sweet juice. We then separate the fruit sugars from the monk fruit anti-oxidants that are otherwise known as Mogrosides, which are then spray dried as powder. This results in the final product that you see today.

I've never used Pure Monk Fruit before, what should I keep in mind?

Pure Monk Fruit Extract is exponentially sweeter than sugar (250x to 300x), so you only need to use a small amount to sweeten your beverages & foods. A TINY bit will go a long way.

Sometimes people will put too much by accident, and because the sweetness is so strong it will overwhelm their taste buds and make it taste bitter or off-putting. Our best recommendation is to start with a tiny pinch and taste your beverage/recipe accordingly & slowly increase the sweetness gradually until your desired taste is achieved.

Lastly, all Pure Monk Fruit Extract’s come in powdered form, so it’s important that you MIX IT REALLY WELL so that it dissolves properly – for best results, we recommend using a handheld electric mixer.

General Questions

What makes 4x Sweetener a higher quality sweetener vs other 1:1 brands?

It’s sweeter because we use a proprietary blend that includes much more Monk Fruit Extract. This increases the sweetness ration, which means you can use less and still get the sweetness you desire.

Why is your granulated Monk Fruit Sweeteners pure white vs. other competitors?

We start off by using a higher quality Monk Fruit Extract which is v50% as the base, which is white in color. Other brands may use v15% or lower in order to save money, which also makes the color of their granulated sweeteners look darker. By starting off with a higher quality extract, our product taste sweeter and looks more white in color.

For the 1:1 and 4x Blend, what is the percentage breakdown of Erythritol & Monk Fruit?

All our blends are proprietary.

However, for our 1x and 4x blends, we start off by using a much higher quality Monk Fruit Extract which is v50% as the base. This increases the quality exponentially, as well as the sweetness ratio of the product, plus it makes it look more white in color.

Other brands may use Monk Extract v15% or lower in order to save money, which also makes the color of their granulated sweeteners look darker.

By starting off with a higher quality monk fruit extract as the base, our product tastes exponentially sweeter and looks significantly better.

Why do some of the grains inside the 1:1 or 4x look slightly darker or discolored?

During the production process, we filter the liquid sweet juice, from the insoluble pulp of the Monk Fruit.

However, tiny bits of insoluble pulp sometime slip through in the production process. These darker or discolored grains are a result when these tiny bits of pulp go through the granulation process with the monk fruit liquid.

You can rest assured that they are perfectly safe and just as sweet!

Are there tips/tricks for using Pure Powdered Monk Fruit Extract?

(1) All Pure Monk Fruit Extract’s come in powdered form, so it’s important that you MIX IT REALLY WELL so that it dissolves properly – for best results, we recommend using a handheld electric mixer.

(2) Measuring the appropriate sweetness for a recipe is more art than science, especially when dealing with a product that delivers exponential sweetness. Start with a tiny pinch and taste your beverage/recipe accordingly & slowly increase the sweetness gradually until your desired taste is achieved. If you put too much, the sweetness may be overwhelming to your taste buds.

Pure vs. Ultra Pure – Which one should I choose?

It all comes down to personal preference.

Ultra Pure comes in 50g bags and is our rarest and purest blend, and many consumers that are connoisseurs of Monk Fruit Extract, like the ‘cleaner’ sweetness that it provides.

Pure comes in a larger 100g bag, it will last a bit longer, and will still give you the sweetness you desire without the calories.

Both are high quality products.

Granulated vs. Pure Powdered Monk Fruit – Which one should I choose?

There are a couple of key things to consider when choosing between our granulated sweetener (1:1 and 4x) vs. pure powdered monk fruit (Pure and Ultra Pure).

(1) Granulated looks and taste closest to sugar, which makes using it much easier and is already quite familiar to your taste buds. If you are looking for something closest to sugar, please choose 1:1 or 4x.

(2) Granulated is mixed with Monk Fruit and Erythritol. If you don’t like Erythritol, and are looking for Pure Monk Fruit Extract ONLY, please choose Pure or Ultra Pure.

(3) Granulated is more economical in price. If cost is a major factor in your purchasing decision, please consider 1:1 or 4x.

Why do some batches of Pure v25% look lighter or darker than others?

Since Monk Fruit Extract is a 100% pure natural product, the color will be easily influenced by the raw monk fruit material. In nature, Monk Fruit will come in natural shade variations so it's completely normal that the color will vary in shade between different batches.Despite the shade of the color being different, the sweetness is the exact same because the content & concentration of the Mogroside V are the exact same, e.g. v25%.

Ingredients & Nutrition

What are the ingredients in the granulated 1:1 and 4x Monk Fruit Sweetener?

The ingredients in our granulated 1x & 4x Monk Fruit Sweetener are Erythritol & Monk Fruit Extract.

What are the ingredients in Pure & Ultra Pure Monk Fruit Extract?

Both of our Pure variations are made with only Monk Fruit Extract. They contain no added ingredients or sugar alcohols like Erythritol.

Does erythritol have calories/carbohydrates?

Erythritol is a sugar alcohol that has zero calories. Although it contains a small amount of carbs, most of it passes through the body and is not used, making it effectively 0 net carbs.

How many calories are in a serving of your Enlight Sweetener products?

Each serving of Enlight Sweetener is 0 calories.

Is Enlight Sweetener gluten-free, vegan friendly, and keto friendly?

Yes, all Enlight products are gluten-free, vegan friendly, and keto friendly.

What Are Mogrosides?

Mogrosides are the natural extract of Monk Fruit and gives it its sweet taste. The higher the percentage of Mogrosides, the higher the sweetness.

For example:

  • Enlight Pure is made from 25% Mogroside V
  • Enlight Ultra Pure is made from 50% Mogroside V.

Our Ultra Pure variation is significantly sweeter because of this, but it's also extremely rare and much more expensive as a result.

Lastly, Mogrosides come in classifications of I-V, with varying levels of sweetness — with the classification of V being the highest, most premium, and the one with the most additional health benefits.

ENLIGHT PURE MONK FRUIT and ENLIGHT ULTRA PURE MONK FRUIT contain 100% monk fruit only, but it's the Mogroside percentage that determines how sweet it ultimately is.

Are any of your products made on equipment shared with nuts?

NO. None of our products have ever been processed on machines shared with nuts.

On the back of some of our packages, you may notice the following "Processed in a facility that processes tree nuts."

Confusing right? At some point, we were considering a new manufacturing partner that also processes nuts. At this same time, we also needed to submit a new packaging order right away, so we decided to add this verbiage on the back of the package just in case we moved to a new manufacturing partner.

After discussing it with our team, some of which have nut allergies, we decided that it was best to not pursue the new partner, or anyone that shares their machinery with nuts.

Moving forward, all new packages will no longer have this verbiage on the back of the package. It will take some time to filter out these packages, because as you can imagine, we order everything in massive bulk.

From our family to yours, we wanted to assure you that we have never, nor do we plan on manufacturing our product on machinery shared with nuts.
